What is the history and popularity of the app?

Founded by Gavin Hall, and Alexander Rudloff of postGorilla, Emurse is a part of AOL finance. It was designed to provide improved assistance for job searches and averages 115,000 unique visitors per month.

What are the differences to other apps?

Emurse has functionality beyond the basic resume tools and advice. The option for sending a resume directly from the site in multiple formats is one feature that is extremely useful. The notification system is another perk, notifying users when the sent resume has been viewed. Users can even send a thank you note to potential employers directly from the application.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The starting point on emurse is the resume application. Information is broken down into categories for users to simply fill in the blank areas. Personal Information, Objective, Work Experience, Skills, and Education are all included. Users may also re-order or add sections if desired. Once the information is entered, several design options are offered.

After the resume is completed, it is hosted on the emurse site. Note that users may upload existing resumes if they do not wish to use the resume building tool. Potential employers may download the hosted resume in multiple formats, including DOC, PDF, and XML. Resumes may also be sent directly from emurse as an attachment. Badges and signatures are provided to promote resumes on blogs or other web pages. The Professional Profile Section is comprised of a short biography, interview questions, web links, and more. Each section is easily accessed and utilized.

A resource section with blog, questions, and salary calculator is available as well. The blog covers topics associated with job searches and resumes. The answer section is a forum-style area for users to enter questions and offer answers. Both of these sections are easy to use and informative. The salary calculator is unwieldy and takes users through an extended multi-step process laden with advertising to find out what the salary range is for a particular career.

How does the registration process work?

An email, full name, postal code, password and job category are requested during registration. Each user may create up to ten resumes using emurse.
